We have the most amazing bottle of Arette Unique on the bar, and I've always been a big fan of the Cuervo Reserve de Familia.

You have to pay some serious dollar to get great tequila though

I'm not a big fan of Tequila Arette, so I've never had their El Gran Viejo, which is aged 4 years.

Here are some brands that you can't go wrong with. These brands make excellent Blanco, Reposado and Anejo.

Casa Noble
Chinaco
El Tesoro (great blanco and the Paradiso is phenomenal)
Fina Estampa (great low cost option)

...and when you want to try something special Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia

Just like with rums there are very light tequilas like Don Julio, Patron, Partida, and Cuervo Reserva de la Familia, none of which I really recommend. However the medium to richly flavored tequilas are another matter. Chinaco is one of my favorites. Hornitos is a great standard that I am never without. Herradura is another great one. El Tesoro is very good. Paradiso is good but overpriced. Casa Noble is very distinctive. 7 Leguas isn't bad. Hacienda de Chihuahua Sotol is fantastic. Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal is my absolute top choice with Chichicapa and San Luis del Obsipo.
