It was time for trying a new infusion..i can`t help myself. So this time i try an infusion with Kiwano fruit, longpepper and a kaffir lime leaf in some Havana Club Anejo blanco, and a tsp light muscovado sugar.
Longpepper (piper longum) has a similar taste as blackpepper but less pungent and slightly sweet. Kiwano tastes something like between cucumber and banana, and slightly tart but very fresh. The seeds are very brilliantly lime green-yellowish. Kiwano is also called "Horned melon". And kaffir lime has a very specail aroma, cannot really describe it.
Will post the result when its ready to taste.

Tiare, you always encourage me to try new infusions. I have been stuck with nutmeg, vanilla, tangerine rinds, and one or two other items lately. Thanks for the inspiration to branch out.
Make sure you do let us know how this infusion turns out. It sounds delicious.

That sounds like a wonderful combination..have you tried an infusion with those together?
Or maybe blood orange would be nice..

Update of the infusion, i just tasted it and now it has a sort of slight peppery -cucumberish flavor, a combination of pepper and cucumber..i believe it will be quite interesting in a cocktail. I´ll let it sit a bit longer, a day or two.
------------------
And that i shouldn`t have done.....it was so good yesterday after sitting one day and one night, with that wonderful slightly peppery-cucumber flavor..but i did let it sit for another day..oops..
So..the kaffir lime leaves did take over and also they added a bit of bitterness to it. It will still be nice in tikidrinks, as a flavor adding, but not as a base spirit and no other bitter will be needed in that drink. But i believe some Falernum would be nice to balance it with.
Its a lucky thing that always when i experiment with a new infusion i don´t make much.
I haven`t yet made any drink with it..but i will.
