I'm going to be traveling the next two weeks from Los Angeles to Washington DC then up to New York. The Rum Tasting Events (http://ministryofrum.com/events.php) page has more information on what and where I'll be.

Are there any rum events that take place here in the Los Angeles area? Seems like we are missing out on all the fun.

it's only a matter of time until LA (or somewhere nearby) gets a great rum event. do you know of an outstanding rum bar in the area?

No Robert, not nearby. There is a Tiki bar here and there, but no rum bars that I know of.

When it comes to spirits, Tequila is king around here (Redondo Beach area). Plenty of great Mexican restaurants that have a wall full of exotic Tequila's.

Just reading - this made me thirsty too -
Xiomara
Xiomara Ardolina has managed to concoct the holy grail of Mojitos at her eponymous Xiomara restaurants- no small feat in a town as Mojito-mad as Los Angeles. She slings as many as 450 of her specialty "Mambos" on a Saturday night, all of them made with her signature fresh-pressed sugarcane juice. "It is not the traditional Mojito," the Cuban-born Ardolina points out, but an elixir born out of the sugarcane fields of Cuba, where workers would mix cane juice and rum. "They say it was an aphrodisiac," Ardolina says with a throaty laugh. Andale!

P.S. let us know if you are familiar with either place and if it's just market garb. If not maybe check em out and report back on your findings.

If your cover is blown, as you run away, take Billy Crystal's advice and "serpentine! serpentine!":D

That alone requires an investigation! :D Now, get my wife interested in taking a very long lunch to go up to Beverly Hills because I heard about the great 'food' at this restaurant. Spy the rum selection, have lunch, order her two Mojitos, go home...
