As the rum writers begin gushing about cocktails they've never heard of and never tried we're going to see things like this from AOL's recipe stash (http://recipe.aol.com/recipe/ti-punch/24)

Haha!!!

If you go over to idrink.com, theyve got a list of the 10 worst recipes submitted. the worst is here: http://www.idrink.com/v.html?id=4388

Theyve got one drink called the Banana Beef Brownie cosisting of Banana Liqueur and Beef Buillon... ech...

The 10th worst recipe is a rum drink, some version of Grog, simply dark rum and water. Doesnt seem that bad to me, just for somebody who wants 48 proof rum.

That is a pretty funny Ti Punch recipe.

I thought of you Hank when I posted that recipe. I can live with the wine glass but anyone who has tried to mix brown sugar in a glass with 3 tablespoons of rum is going to give up before the sugar dissolves.

There is a lot of tradition when making a ti punch. If you don't start with the lime and then sugar and then rum, people in the French islands wouldn't drink it. There's a reason it's made that way, and getting the sugar to dissolve is the first.

I learned the importance of mixing the ingredients in the proper order the hard way. Fortunately, it is a lesson I won't forget.

lime, then sugar, and then rum

Just whipped this recipe and after 1 hour there was a rum cake growing in my glass.
