I registered a few days ago but I'm just getting around to posting. I'm not very experienced (at least not in a good way) with rum but I'm learning a lot from this site so far. Anyway, just wanted to say hello.

Welcome to the rum forum, Bruce. I see you're from the USA. What city do you live near? Do you have a good selection of rums at a local liquor store near you? If so, what looks appealing in your locale?

You can learn a lot by browsing around this forum. Many people are nice and quite knowledgeable.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm currently in south Louisiana outside Baton Rouge. I haven't been to any liquor stores around here but some of our grocery stores have decent selections of liquor. I haven't looked at the rum myself yet, but I asked my wife to take a look when she was there yesterday. From what she said it sounds like they have Cruzan and a few others. I showed her a picture of Brinley Gold and she thought she remembered seeing that, so I'm excited about that. I really want to try some Brinley Gold Coconut. I'm also thinking of trying some Cruzan Blackstrap.

My main rum experience is over indulging on Bacardi as a late teen. That was a long time ago and since then I've been a beer drinker, scotch drinker, vodka drinker, and wine drinker. I guess I've come full circle back to rum. I never knew there was so much variety in rum. I can't wait to try it all. I've found a few places to order online if I can't find enough locally.
